Creating Healthy, Happy Smiles

Dentistry is more than just teeth; it’s about the connections you make with people. I love the challenge of figuring out the best option for each patient and helping patients to decide how they want to move forward. As a dentist, I get to make a difference in my patients’ lives by creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable and well taken care of.

After having practiced dentistry in a large, community-based clinic in Missouri, I am glad to be in a more personal environment. I love having time to talk with and build long-term relationships with patients. Seeing a patient’s smile as he or she arrives for a visit makes me so happy; I want people to look forward to coming to see me, the way I look forward to seeing them.

Education and Continuing Education

I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. With the understanding that dentistry is a constantly changing field, I have focused on trying to increase my knowledge in many different areas. My varied continuing education has ranged from gaining knowledge on working with patients with special needs and complex medical histories to advanced restorative and facial aesthetics classes.

I feel fortunate to have been able to participate in hands-on training with Spear Education, where I plan to continue to advance my knowledge to provide the best outcome for each individual patient. From my continuing education, I have been able to learn there can be many options for treatment for each individual’s situation. It has been fun to communicate these options to patients and help each individual decide what is best for them.

Personal Life

After growing up in a small town in western Wisconsin and practicing in Missouri for several years, I am glad to be back “up North.” I live in the country in Lake Park with my husband, who works for NDSU, and our two dogs: Porter the Golden Retriever, and Paisley, the rescue puppy.

When I am not working, I can be found at the Crossfit gym or out running. Crossfit has helped me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new and different from my everyday life. My husband and I also do a lot of improvements around our house. We work together to keep up with the maintenance around our country home.

I love my community and often volunteer with the Red River Valley Dental Project. My husband and I also try to participate in events like Tour de Cure for diabetes and other benefit races.

Our family-friendly dental offices serve patients from Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, Pelican Rapids, and surrounding communities. Call Dakota Smiles today!
